The Anatomy of a Demonstration: Tracing the Shift from Peaceful Protests to Violent Conflict in Paris
Part 1
This project focuses on capturing images of the recent manifestations that took place in Paris, which began in France on 19 January 2023, organized by opponents of the pension reform bill which would increase the retirement age from 62 to 64 years old. The aim is to document the energy, passion, and diversity of the individuals who participated in the protest, and convey a sense of the atmosphere and emotions present during the event.
The series is in a chronological order, evolving from the peaceful moments into the more intense interactions between protesters and law enforcement, representing the way that events would unfold during the protests, starting out as peaceful and ending violently.
